In 2007, I authored “Effective Interviewing Tips & Techniques.” tailored for the San Francisco Department of Child Support Services Interview and Support Teams. The outline presents several elements to aid Child Support Officers with the ability to foster a more positive interaction, greater communication skills, and enhanced cooperation with child support case participants during telephone and face-to-face interviews. Review child support laws. Conduct one-on-one interviews for new case opening, and existing case participants for local, intrastate, interstate, and international child support cases. Locate and identify case participant’s and their assets. Generate court orders for establishment of paternity and enforcement actions. Review existing court orders for modification or case closure. Initiate and serve wage assignments, bank levy. Review cases for CA state drivers & professional license release, suspensions, and or revocation. Coordinate with the Office of the District Attorney and Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office. Collaborate and coordinate with the City of Santa Rosa City Attorney, Santa Rosa Fire Department and other government agencies. Extensive court testimony. High degree of cultural awareness, extensive experience collaborating and interviewing a wide cross section of community members, including business owners.
